It's Friday and I couldn't think of a creative name for today's blog. As I have a weekend of work planned it's not really the weekend either for me. I have decorated the Christmas tree tonight which is possibly too big for the lounge but it was my Grandad's and it has happy memories.
Seeing as it's Friday, I treated myself to a glass of rose wine with dinner which was lovely but I still have some left for tomorrow too. Everywhere I've been, temptation was there today! I was in a cafe earlier and there was gorgeous looking cake then went to another cafe for another meeting and everyone had wine! It was only 2pm which even for a Friday is a bit early I think.
Today I've really enjoyed my meals. I ate:
Breakfast: Muesli with 2 brazil nuts
Lunch: Sausage sandwich (naughty but nice)
Dinner: Beef casserole with jacket potato and broccoli plus a glass of wine.
Have a lovely weekend

Curry night
Tonight's blog is short and sweet as I am shattered. I had some friends over for wine and curry which was lovely. I made the curry from scratch using a Madhur Jaffrey recipe for baked chicken curry which has yoghurt and spices rather than coconut milk so it's really healthy.
I've also been working on a new logo and look forward to revealing it soon once the finishing touches have been done by the designer.
Today I ate:
Breakfast: Porridge with chopped banana
Lunch: Onion soup with a white bread roll
Snack: Apple and 2 brazil nuts
Dinner: Chicken curry, sag aloo and 4 popadoms plus 1/2 bottle white wine
It was lovely to cook a curry from scratch and they are so much tastier and healthier than take aways without taking up lots of time and effort. I would strongly recommend trying one out.

Cake cake cake
Today has been another day of cravings and struggling with healthy eating but I have tried really hard to be good and except from the cake it has been ok. I don't think it helps that I didn't go out until 5:30pm so I had quite a long time just at home working and doing the really boring task of sorting my email inboxes. Anyway, overall I didn't do too badly
Breakfast: Muesli with semi skimmed milk, 2 brazil nuts
Lunch: Poached eggs on wholemeal spelt bread, coffee cake
Dinner: Homemade veggie burgers, handful of oven chips, salad, kiwi fruit
Not sure I will have eaten my five a day. The veggie burgers are made from pure vegetables though which increases the fibre content. Chips tend to be thought of as really unhealthy but a few oven chips now and again is not bad. Frying chips increases the content and there is never any need to add oil to oven chips. As I say in The Real Food Club, a little bit of what you fancy is good for you.
Hope you've had a great day. Please leave any comments and thoughts you may have.

Cravings
Right now I'm having massive cravings for the cake and chocolate which I know is in the cupboard. My Mum and step Dad came over for a quick visit to Sheffield and bought a couple of slices of coffee cake with them plus I have 2 boxes of chocolates which are just calling my name. But I will resist and make myself a hot chocolate once I've written this blog. Although I say you should have a treat, I went out for lunch and have had cheese and chocolate beetroot brownies (just a tiny slice but enough) plus I am not in the slightest bit hungry after dinner.
If you're having cravings, try to distract yourself from them. Go for a walk or call a friend or read a book to try and take your mind off them. If you decide you are going to treat yourself, make sure you can easily limit how much you have. Opening a box of chocolates when you really crave them will probably end up in you eating most of them. Opt for a small amount which is measurable and be really tough with yourself on sticking to it.
I have walked into Sheffield and all round Sheffield and then home again at speed. We went to Tamper Coffee for lunch which is heavenly. If you haven't been, it's just off West Street near Nando's. I can't remember the name of the little road it's on. They do amazing food and coffee at very reasonable prices.
Today, I ate:
Breakfast: Porridge with chopped banana
Snack: tiny piece of brownie
Lunch: 1/2 brie and crankberry sandwich, 1/2 steak pie (small)
Snack: kiwi fruit, thin slice of cheese
Dinner: Salmon and vegetable stir fry
What do you crave? Sweet or savoury?

Week 1 done
So week one is done and according to the scales I've lost 4lbs in a week. I'm lucky that I lose weight quickly but can also put it on quickly. However, as you've seen from previous posts I have eaten sensibly and generally been quite healthy having walked into town 5 times in a week too (20 miles in total). I haven't done my measurements today as I forgot. I meant to do that at Food Club but only remembered in the car on the way home! I will do them tomorrow and report back.
This morning I woke feeling exhausted and a bit run down which is probably the effects of Saturday night but by the end of the day, I'm feeling much better after some decent food. Today I ate:
Breakfast: Muesli with yoghurt and banana, 2 brazil nuts
Lunch: 1 scrambled egg, steamed spinach and tomatoes
Snack: Apple and 1/2 cereal bar
Dinner: 1 slice haggis terrine and 2 small vegetables kebabs (pepper, cucumber and couscous stuffed cherry tomatoes) at Food Club followed vegetable stirfry at home
If you would like to join the Real Food Club and experience how good healthy eating can make you feel, email info@wisechoicenutrition.co.uk or call Hannah on 07912 556470. We currently run one at Molly's tea room (Godfrey's Garden Centre, J31 of the M1) and will be starting one in Chesterfield and Sheffield in the New Year,

The morning after the night before
Today I have been really healthy again (with the exception of a couple of cakes at a friend's baby shower). Normally, I would have eaten tonnes of carbs and rubbish on a post drinking day but I resisted the temptation and ate properly.
It's important to replenish your body after abusing it to help it recover. This doesn't necessarily just mean from alcohol but an intense gym workout will require good nutrition to help the body recover and get the most from the work out.
Tomorrow is weigh in day and I'm also going to do my measurements. Weight loss is great but it's also about your body composition. What you really want to see is fat loss which is obviously more difficult to measure. You will notice fat loss more if you combine healthy eating with exercise as fat becomes muscle. This doesn't necessarily translate to weight loss though as muscle weighs more then fat.`
Here's today's diet diary:
Breakfast: Muesli with yoghurt
Lunch: 3 small sandwiches, 2 cakes, 3 grapes
Dinner: Sweet potato with a little butter and a bowl of butternut squash, carrot and red pepper soup.
Have a great week!

PS Remember, if you want to feel great then you need to eat great too.

It's officially Christmas!
I didn't blog yesterday because when I get in from a rare night out I was possibly a little incapable of writing anything that would make sense. I don't condone binge drinking but let's face it, most of us do it just some more regularly than others. Yesterday. we went to the Christmas Market at Kelham Island which was fantastic then on into town for dinner and drinks. It was lovely spending the day catching up with friends especially one who we don't see as much because she lives down South.
I was pretty good with eating it was just the drinking that was not so great. I drank 5 glasses of wine and an archers and cranberry!! Plus a cup of mulled wine. Not good but I won't drinking much for a while so my liver can recover.
Here's what I ate:
Breakfast: Porridge with chopped banana
Lunch: 1/4 pizza, cucumber and carrot sticks plus a few crisps and a little bit of sour cream and chive dip. Chocolate beetroot brownie.
Dinner: Feta, olives and spinach balls followed by chicken risotto.
The food was delicious at La Gondola on Carver Street. We didn't have dessert because we were full and I was very pleased I didn't start ordering cheesy chips on the way home!
Back to being good again today
